Q In this unit's readings, you learned about the formation of Historically Black Colleges and Universities, which were created with the mission of educating Black Americans. I want you to use this unit's writing assignment to educate yourself on a very important part of Black history and culture. HBCU's are dear to me, as all my degrees, including my doctorate are from HBCU universities. You scored a job at a major advertising agency. Your first client is requesting the creation of a pamphlet for an HBCU will be used at recruitment fairs. These pamphlets are the first visual introduction to prospective students. Your client is looking to give their existing leaflets a serious upgrade and look to you to create something creative and dynamic. Guidelines... 1. There are numerous HBCUs to choose from. To create a variety, I am restricting your choices. You cannot choose the local HBCUs of Bowie State, Howard University, University of Maryland Eastern Shore, and Morgan State University. 2. If you are unsure if your choice is an actual HBCU, ask me. HBCUs are institutions that have received that specific government designation. Just because an institution has a significant population of Black students does not mean it is an HBCU. A perfect example of theses are Temple University, Georgia State University, and Towson University. Although they have a significant number of Black students enrolled, it is not one of the One Hundred and Seven ( a nickname for the collection of HBCUs). 3. Your pamphlet is designed to educate students on the positives of the institution. It must address the history, current enrollment, notable alumni (with brief bios), programs of study, sports and clubs, notable accomplishments, and any other facts and tibits that a prospective student should be drawn to. 4. Your pamphlet should have digital content and feature the school's current motto and slogans as well as founding date. The color scheme of the pamphlet should mirror the school's colors. 5. Upload your project in a PDF as to not distort your margins and design layout. Allow me to be clear, simply copying and pasting pictures and information onto a word document will not suffice. There are numerous software programs, including Microsoft Word that has pre-designed templates in pamphlet styles that can assist you if you are not digitally creative.
